It's mid-April, which means the same thing as always: the Celtics and Bruins in the playoffs, and the Red Sox playing early season baseball. But this year, people are ignoring the Red Sox, and rightfully so. The team Theo put together sucks, they let stars go and signed a bunch of stiffs. The idea was run prevention, but after 12 horrible games things have not worked out. They can't hit, save for Youkilis and Pedroia. They play horrible defense. The staff and pen' has been crappy as a whole. Fans showed up for the disappointing Yankees series, but after losing 2 of 3 in Minnesota, Tampa came in people didn't show. They were frustrated, as they well should be. Don't say it was the rain. Moreover, we lost all 3 games to the hated Rays. We are in 4th place at a horrific 4-8. Fire the coach? Nah. The players suck. They don't care. Hence, when the team had loaded the bases in the 11th, with no outs last night, they didn't score! Scary stuff.
Let's get positive! The Celtics won their Game 1 playoffs match-up versus Miami. The Celts were getting smoked but came back and won by 9. It was a heated game, one in which a little fight broke out.
The Bruins, the Bruins. Hell yeah! They got the Sabres. The Bruins are hurting, bad. No Savard, Seidenberg and Stuart. It sucks. But, the Bruins have some players. They have Rask and a badass defensive system in place. Through the first 2 games, the team used Hunwick, Wideman, Chara and Boychuk on defense(with Ference and McQuaid sprinkled in). Everyone knew these were 2 evenly matched teams. This series will ultimately go the maximum 7 games it appears. In Game 1, the game was played as expected. A great game with fights and defense. The Sabres came out on top 2-1. Game 2 was a good follow-up. The momentum swing in this game, and maybe the series, was when star Sabre Thomas Vanek left with an injury. Although the Sabres led 2-0 after 1 period, the Bruins battled back and made it 3-2 after 2 periods. But Buffalo was 31-0 when leading after 2 periods this season! Yet, the Bruins scored 3 times and won 5-3 to make it a whole new series! The Bruins will take this momentum swing back to Boston for games on Monday and Wednesday.
