2010 MARCH MADNESS

Being a Bruins fan can drive you mad. It's so frustrating. This season, they are last in goals. Yet, the trading deadline passed by this past week and we did nothing. And the team paid for it this week. They went 2-2, but played crappy in all 4 games. With Rask out with an injury, Tim Thomas was back in action and was so good. It was the Vezina Trophy version of him again!
The team opened the post-Olympic season with the hated MTL Habs' in town. The Bruins led 1-0 and looked like they would win but collapsed(they do this every game it seems) and gave up(get this) 4 goals and lost 4-1. Boo. The next game saw the lowly Leafs' visit the unfriendly confines of the Garden. They outplayed us but Timmy was brilliant and Satan scored a goal and then the winner in the shootout and the black-and-gold headed out for 7 games in 11 days.
The roadie began against the NYI, and the club gutted out a 3-2 win behind another sensational start by Thomas. Unfortunately, the club fell 2-1 today in Piitsburgh. The club led 1-0 but lacked any scoring tactics. Shameful. What we realized today is that, yes, the Bruins are a tad above average and will likely squeak into the post-season. They will not go far though. This week, the club continues their road trip and currently sit in 7th place in the East, but are only 3 points from being in 11th.
The Celtics were humiliated by losing to the Nets and Cavs last week, but this week things were better. The club went into Detroit and won 105-100. Newly acquired Nate Robinson looked good off the bench. The club blew out the Bobcats 104-80 the next night and then went into Philadelphia and won by double digits. So what did this show? Not much, they beat 3 teams below .500. But 3 wins are 3 wins. Bring it on. They winning ways should continue as they play the porous Wizards tonight.
In other news, the Celtics came to terms with free agent Michael Finley. The BC Eagles basketball team lost today and ended their poor season 15-15. The ACC Tournament begins this week. The Red Sox have started their Grapefruit League action. Lastly, the Pats locked up NT Vince Wilfork for 5 years and a whopping 40 million.
