BRUINS LOST TEN STRAIGHT

Last weekend, the Bruins hit rock bottom. Or so we all thought. The club was in a precarious position, one that witnessed a 7 game losing streak. Most losses were close one goal games. The club had yet to win a true home game since December 2009. Although most agree the coach lost the team and should be fired, the club could not do that. He has 3 years remaining on a new deal. The team could not trade away their roster, because nobody was really worthy of acquiring, and the club was still in striking distance of a playoff spot if you can believe that one.
Well, it was not rock bottom. The club lost all 3 games this week. I can't believe I'm typing these words. The club is mired in a now infamous 10 game losing streak, matching a losing streak from 1924-25! Can you honestly believe that? Didn't this team go 52-19 last year and finished first in the East? Why are they toiling in 13th place this season? They led the East in goals scored last year, this year, well, they are dead last? The 3 losses this week hurt. First, they dominated Washington on national tv through 40 minutes. Even so, they blew a lead and was tied in the 3rd period. Yet, the Capitals scored 3 times in 3rd frame and won. Losses in a row=8. The club had hated rival in 2 nights later. In this one, again, the Bruins dominated and led 2-0 late in the 2nd period. Yet, the Habs scored twice in a span of under a minute to tie things up. The game went to a SO, and Halak out shined Rask by a single goal. Losses in a row=9. Today, against the Canucks, the club dominated their opponent for the 3rd time this week. They led 2-0 but the Canucks scored late in the 2nd. The Bruins were 4 minutes away from breaking a horrid losing streak, and guess what, the Canucks scored and the game ended up going to a SO again. Luongo gave up none, Rask one. Losses in a row=10.
Thats correct, 10 straight losses! All 3 games this week, the team had a slew of chances. They ran into 3 good goalies. They rung the crossbar and post about 10 times. They had many opportunities, including penalty shots, breakaways and power plays. Yet, it never happened. They put over 40 shots on goal in each game, yet scored only 5 goals. I hope this is rock bottom. The team plays the Habs again tomorrow in hopes of revenge, and more importantly, a win to break this streak that seems will never end.
The pleasant new is the Celtics won a couple this week. After they lost to the Bulls, Hawks and Magic last week, the losses continued as the Lakers defeated the Celts 90-89 on a Kobe buzzer-beater in front of a national tv audience. The team slid to 4th in the East. But they regrouped and defeated the Wizards the next night with a great 4th quarter effort. They ten beat the Heat and Nets. They have a huge game tomorrow versus the Magic, who stormed back from a 16 point deficit in beating the Celts last week.
Oh, the BC Eagles continue to suck this year. They lost a crusher to #10 rank Duke 66-63.
