Everyone is still shocked at the Pats 2009 season ending, especially after the Ravens got smoked in Indy yesterday. So right now the focus is on the black-and-gold and the green team.
I have to say this; the injuries the Bruins have suffered this season is far worse than anything I have heard about, in any sport and any team. Seriously. It's sickening. The Bruins are trying to battle, but its excruciating to watch it. Although Krejci and Stuart returned yesterday, the team is still without Wideman, Ference, Bergeron, Bitz, Savard, Sturm and Begin. The team took this AHL looking team out West for a 3 game trip. It was okay but bittersweet. The team lost the opener, 4-3 to Anaheim. Problem was, the team led 3-2 in the final frame. The team gutted out a 2-1 SO victory in San Jose the following night. Tim Thomas was back in net and had 41 saves. Chara scored the lone goal in the SO. Yesterday, the trip concluded in LA versus the much improved Kings. The Bruins led 3-1 with under 10 minutes to go, but much like Anaheim, gave up to 3rd period tallies. The game went to a SO and unfortunately we lost it.
The good news is that the club should have Sturm, Bergeron and Wideman back tomorrow. The team plays Ottawa twice this week, as well as games versus Columbus and Carolina.
The Celtics, despite being 27-11, have been a disappointment this year, especially at home, where they are a lackluster 11-6. The club is still devastated with injuries right now, most notably Wallace and KG. It sucks. The team welcomed in Atlanta to start the week, a feisty club that won both meetings earlier this season. The Celtics led by double digits but collapsed down the stretch and lost by double digits. It was an utter embarrassment. The team bounced back by trashing the Nets in a total blowout of epic proportions. Unfortunately, the team played the Bulls the following night on national television. Yes, it was the 4th game in 5 nights, but they never truly showed up and lost. The team should have Wallace back tomorrow versus Dallas, but KG is a week or two away. The Celts also play Detroit and Portland this week.
