NFL 2009 SUPER BOWL.........IN NOVEMBER?

Last week I spent most of this here space hyping the huge Patriots(6-2) versus Colts(8-0) game. It was the most watched and talked about game of the season. It ended also being my hardest Pats loss ever, arguably tougher than the last minute Super Bowl loss to the Giants. Let's just say the Pats smashed the undefeated Colts club and led 24-7 at one point. The game was intense and every play was watched under a microscope. To make a long story short, the Colts came back in the final minutes from a 34-21 deficit to win in the final seconds 35-34. The Pats went for the win by going for a 4th and 2, at their own 25 yard line, instead of punting. I loved the call, hated the spot. Although Faulk had the first down, they spotted it inches short and the Colts scored right after. So instead of punting and making the Colts go 70 yards, they tried to get 2 yards and end the game right there. I like the call, even though it gave the Colts the AFC regular season top spot. You got to have you-know-what to beat Manning and the Colts, especially considering the Colts won a last second AFC Championship versus the Pats 2 seasons ago, and the Pats kicked 5 field goals and played too conservative and watched the Colts win in the waning minutes 18-15 last year.
With the nightmare-ish loss in the books, the Pats regrouped and recovered today, a week later. They smashed the Jets 31-14, avenging a loss to the Jets in Week 2. Welker had 15 catches and 192 yards, Bodden had 3 picks, and the team built a 24-0 lead in route to the win. The team(7-3) is tied with 2 other clubs for the 2nd seed in the AFC. The Pats play the undefeated, 10-0 Saints, next Monday night.
The Bruins entered the week hosting the Isles, and lost 4-1. The team was booed most of the game and fell to a sickening 8-8. Good news was the team welcomed Lucic back on Thursday night and defeated Atlanta 4-3. The club also won in Buffalo the following night 2-1. Thomas is due back from injury this week, as is Savard. The team plays St. Louis and Minnesota before returning home for a Black Friday matinee versus the Devils. The team is 10-8 and back in the mix of things in both the division and conference.
The Celtics are not as good as we all thought. After losing to the Pacers and Hawks the prior week, the team lost again, this time to the Magic. It was a battle of the mighty Celts and Magic, the 1st time they've met since last season's epic 7-game playoff series. Fortunately, the club beat the Warriors and Knicks in between the loss. The team is still in first in their division at 10-4. The team plays next on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Lastly, the BC Eagles football team lost the chance to play in their 3rd straight ACC Championship as they lost to the Tar Heels on Senior Day 31-13. They have one game left before they accept a low-level bowl game.

AFC EAST
  1. PATRIOTS 7-3
  2. DOLPHINS 5-5
  3. JETS 4-6
  4. BILLS 3-7
