Well, the Red Sox had the weirdest week. After the team rested their starters and then got swept in NY, the team continued to rest their starters for the post-season, and paid the price as they came home to Fenway for the final homestand of the regular season and got swept by the Jays. Fortunately, the team played about half their guys and smashed the Indians via a 4-game sweep. The team clinched the wildcard in the midst of their season high 6-game losing streak.
The team clinched a playoff spot for the 7th time in 8 years! Let's see some pleasant stats:
2002: 93-69
2003: 95-67
2004: 98-64
2005: 95-67
2006: 86-76
2007: 96-66
2008: 95-67
2009: 95-67
Not bad huh. Great organization all around. The team travels to Los Angeles to open the playoffs against the halos. It should be a great series! The Red Sox will start Lester in Game 1 followed by Beckett and Buchholz. Let's take a deeper look into the final 2009 MLB standings, shall we!
