MY RETURN AS SOX GET HOT

It's been awhile. Over a month to be exact. I'm back, the blog is back on. No, I didn't stop watching sports. I took a break, found fresh hobbies and starting a new job. I can't go back and look at every game that we've missed.
The quickest thing to do is point out some of the best and worst moments over the lull. The last time I wrote on this space, the Sox had lost 6 straight games, and for the first time all season, the Red Sox lost hold of the AL East. The Yanks completed a 4 game sweep over the us and pushed the lead to 6.5. As the Sox battled on, the Yankees went on a tear, one that I never seen from the pinstripes. The division lead swelled to 9.5 games. Today, it sits at 7.5.
The Sox have played great at home, winning most, and awful on the road, losing most. It's been that way the past few seasons. In the past 5 weeks, the Sox bashed the Jays and Orioles.
The Rangers have stuck around as the one and only team that threatens the Red Sox for the coveted wildcard spot. They have been within a couple games for awhile now, and sit 3.5 games back as of this second. There are still plenty of games left, 21 to be exact. 11 are in Boston. Meanwhile, the Rangers play the 1st place Angels a bunch more, so things are up in the air. The AL West division is still up for grabs, so we'll have to see what happens. As for the AL East, the Sox have 3 games left with NY. Anything can happen, but it looks like the pinstripes have it.
The Sox have the glorious record they are used to having every year at this point, 25 games over .500. With a game with the fading Rays tonight, we sit at 83-58. Quite impressive right? If it wasn't for the roll the Yanks have been on, we'd be where we belong, in first place.
The Sox finish with the Rays tonight, and then play the Angels and Orioles next week.
Lastly, the Patriots open their 2009 NFL season tomorrow night vs. the Bills. All points signal a blow out in favor of the Pats. Besides the huge difference in talent, the Pats are at home for MNF and the return of Brady has the town, and team, rearing to go!
