14 DAYS

Okay, its been 2 weeks. I'm still trying to find the time to update this blog. Here goes:
The Patriots have played three games thus far, so let's start here. Opening night was a crazy one. The Patriots struggled in Brady's first game back. Late magic bailed the club out. They were down 24-13 until they scored with about 2 minutes left, to pull within within 24-19. They missed the extra point, so they kicked off. What they needed was a 3 and out and the use of their timeouts. Slim chance but you never know. On the ensuing kickoff, the return man for the Bills fumbled! No onside kick necessary! We scored and won 25-24.
The team traveled to New York to play the Jets. We led 9-3 at the half because we kicked field goals instead of going for the TD. Needless to say, we lost 16-9. It was our first regular season loss in years, and the first in NY in eight years. Tough feeling. Today we played the 2-0 Falcons, led by former BC QB(and a big part of this blog in the past) Matt Ryan. Again, Brady struggled with his rhythm and the team spent most of the day kicking field goals. The defense was great, as was the OL and we won 26-10. We are 2-1 thus far. Standings below.
The Red Sox, well, it's weird to write about. They will be going to the post season, but only as the wildcard. That's because the Yanks clinched the division a couple hours ago. The last time I blogged, the Red Sox trailed the NYY by 7.5, and today it sits at 8.5. We led the Rangers by 3.5 then, it's currently at 6 games. Earlier this week, we led them by 8 games.
So things are good, but far from great. Our opponent in the post season, the Angels, came to town 2 weeks ago. It was a great series, epic games, and although we won the first 2 they won the final game. We then swept in Baltimore, which was great. This week we went to KC, and despite blowing a 6-0 lead in the opener of a 4 game set, and then losing the 2nd game, they won the next 2 to split the series. Then came this weekend.
We headed to NY for our last road series of the season. We trailed by 5.5 games, so a sweep was in need. To sweep all three would put us within 2.5 games with 7 to play. Unfortunately, Francona could of cared less, and rested their players for the playoffs, while the NYY played their best for all 27 innings. Needless to say, we got swept. We are 8.5 back, and our wild card lead is still stuck at 2 games. We have 7 games left next week, the final week of the regular season. We will continue to rest our guys, set up the staff for the Division Series the week after, and try to win all 7 this week.
Lastly, the Bruins(yes, the team that lost Game 7 a few months ago) start their regular season vs. the Capitals on Thursday, then we get to seek revenge against the Canes 48 hours later!

AFC EAST

  1. NEW YORK JETS: 3-0
  2. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: 2-1
  3. BUFFALO BILLS: 1-2
  4. MIAMI DOLPHINS: 0-3
