The Red Sox are in trouble. After sitting in first most of the year, they sit in 2nd place. In a matter of 6 days, the Sox went from being up 3 games to now behind the Yanks by 2.5 games. The team sat it first place by 3 games at the All-Star Break and then won the first game after. Then they lost 5 straight, including getting swept in Texas. The Sox scored a pathetic 9 total runs in the 5 game losing streak. The bullpen was perfect, the starters okay and the offense horrible. Thus, they lost 5 close low scoring games. Even after winning 2 of 3 to the lowly Orioles, the team is in a nasty funk and sits 2.5 games behind the Yanks as I write.
All we can do is hope they bash the terrible A's during a 4 game series at the Fens and then smash around the O's in a rematch next weekend.
In hopes of leaving this blog on a positive note, the Bruins signed D Derek Morris to a 1-year deal.
