PLAYOFFS AND INTENSITY PICKS UP HERE IN BOSTON

Great time to be a hardcore sports in Boston these days. The Bruins and Celtics are in the playoffs while the Red Sox are already battling for the top spot in the AL East! With the warm weather here today, and beyond, I'll have more responsibilities and less time to give you extensive blogs. So let's get right down to it.
Bruins: life is good. With the 4 game sweep over the hated Habs complete, we can now all agree that, revenge is a dish best served cold is so true. For many reasons. Going into the series, the Bruins and Habs met a remarkable 31 playoff series, with the bad guys winning 24. Not good if that is your arch enemy, right? Bruins fans cringe at the thought of playing the Habs in the post-season, so knowing we swept em' this year is so satisfying. Think back to last year, all 365 days ago! The Bruins went 0-8 vs. the Habs in the regular season and yet won 3 games in the playoffs last year vs. the Habs despite losing the final 7th game up in MTL. This year, we played them 6 times in regulation and did not lose once! Then we went 4-0 in the postseason with them! Amazing how things change, and so quickly! The last note that makes things even sweeter is that this was the much celebrated 100th season in MTL history! Oh, how sweet it is.
The Bruins trounced the Habs in all 4 games, as we outscored them 17-6, including suffocating wins in Games 3 and 4 in MTL! Tim Thomas was so good and Price the opposite, as he and the club go booed more that the USA national anthem! Every player had goddy numbers, most notably Ryder's 7 PTS and Kessel's 6PTS. Krejci also had 5 points and led the team with a +6 plus/minus! Must of been real sweet for MTL castoffs in Ryder and Coach Julien! But, the team is surely not satisfied yet. As the #1 seed, the team expects to win 12 more in the playoffs to win Lord Stanley's Cup! The team will play either the Rangers, Canes' or Pens. That has yet TBD, as the Bruins wrapped up their series very quick.
Celtics: The team lost a heartbreaker in Game's 1 and 4! Both games went into OT and poor officiating hampered the Celts. Today was Game 4 and it was just as epic as the 1st. The Celts were leading late in regulation but the Bulls bounced back. Late in the 1st OT, Gordon hit a dramatic 3 and forced a 2nd OT. Needless to say, the Bulls won the game. It was horrific but expected. The Celts did win Game 2 and Game 3(the green led by 30 most of the game) so their will be a Game 5 and 6, and probably 7. For now, the team must get ready for revenge(our fave word in this week's blog) as the Bulls and Celts battle on Tuesday night in Boston.
Red Sox: Much like the Bruins this week, they did not lose a game! They have been impressive and the combo of a stacked lineup and potent bullpen have carried the team to a 9-game winning streak! Sure, the SP have been awful at times, but the team swept 4 games vs. the O's last weekend, then won both games with the Twins, and defeated the Yanks in dramatic fashion the past 2 games. Friday's night game featured a game tying 2 run HR by Jason Bay in the 9th inning w/ two outs off Rivera. Youk hit the game winner in extras! Amazing game. Then yesterday, the Red Sox and Beckett found themselves down 6-0 to Burnett but battled to tie it up and eventually win. A Tek' grand slam was key, as was Lowell's 6 RBI's. The game ended 16-11. The team is 11-6 and has a nationally televised game tonight that will determine if the Sox can retake the division from the surprising Jays.
Lastly, congrats to the Providence Bruins in their 1st round series win vs. Portland in the AHL playoffs. The team faces Worcester for a chance to win the Calder Cup!
