MARCH MADNESS IN BOSTON 2009 CONTINUES

With the Red Sox ten days away from their 2009 opener, the Bruins and Celtics continue to dominate the headlines. Both teams have clinched their respective divisions and each have 8 games remaining before the playoffs.
The Celtics had a decent week. They smashed the Clippers on Monday night to cleanse themselves from a horrific last second loss in La-La land last month. The epic game of the week was a showdown for second place in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics traveled to Orlando and ended up losing a close one 84-82. The teams are now deadlocked for the top spot behind Cleveland. The team recovered from the vital loss by dispatching a solid Hawks club in Hot-lanta, something the team could not do in last season's opening round playoff series. The Celts are undefeated vs. the Hawks this season with just one game remaining. The team takes on the Thunder in 45 minutes.
The Bruins had only one game this week; a win in Toronto. After winning the biggest game of the regular season last Sunday, the team had 5 days off until the 7-5 win vs. the Leafs last night. Manny Fernandez got his first start in weeks and looked rather horrible despite collecting his first win since January. The teams were tied 3-3 after the 1st period. After the Leafs took a one-goal lead, the black-and-gold scored 4 straight 2nd period goals and held on for the win. Wideman and Hunwick each netted 3 assists, while Recchi added 2 goals. The Bruins will have Thomas in net tonight vs. the Flyers in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Bruins have a better cushion than last week, despite playing only 1 game to the Devils 3! The Devils got only one point out of 6 possible while the Bruins got both points that were up for grabs. Something tells us if the Devils had won last week's game with the good guys this week's swoon would not have happened. At the moment, the Bruins are 5 points up on the Caps with 2 games in hand and the Devils are 6 points down and the Bruins have a game in hand! Go Bruins!
