A busy November here in the mecca of sports continues! With the Revs and Sox out of the picture, the Celtics, Eagles, Pats and Bruins take center stage. Where we begin is here.
The Pats and Jets battled on national tv for a rare Thursday night nationally televised game at The Razor. It was a sloppy game, especially for the Pats. A win would keep the good guys in 1st place, plus win the season series and possible tiebreaker vs. the Jets. The Pats were at home but the road team got every call. The officiating was atrocious, but when is it not.
The Jets had a very good 1st half carried by a Washington kickoff return for a TD. After the Pats scored in the half, the Jets carried a 24-13 lead into the break. The Pats battled back and pulled within 3 points heading into the final frame and sure enough the Pats tied it at 24-24.
The Pats were beat up though. Besides season ending injuries to Brady, Maroney and Harrison, the team is still without Wheatley, Jordan, Warren, and Thomas. They did get Morris back but he was limited to just 5 carries as the Pats trailed big early on. The calls continued to hamper the Pats though, as the zebras did everything they could to hold the Pats down. The Jets came out strong in the 4th quarter with a long time consuming drive and eventually scored a TD and led 31-24. In the end, the Pats got one last chance.............and scored with no time left. They drove down the field with 1 minute left and zero timeouts. The team was facing a 4th and long with seconds left and the ball on the 16. Cassell(400 yards passing, 3 td's and 68 rush yards) hit Moss in the end zone for a score with 1 second left! Overtime!
The Jets got the ball first. The game looked as thought he Pats would win though, as the Jets faced a 3rd and 15 deep in their own end. But, Favre hit rookie TE Keller for 16 and the tide turned and the Jets eventually won on a field goal. 34-31 final.
A great epic comeback, a 550 yards total offense performance,a career game for Cassell and another 6+ catches game for Welker (6 grabs, 100 yards) was not enough. The Pats fall back and head to Miami for a do-or-die game that will either send the Pats to oblivion or reignite the team and their hope to capture another division crown.
Now to the positives. The Bruins played 3 games this week and lost none in regulation. The team headed to Chicago to battle the much improved Hawks'. A great duel between Khabibulin and Thomas ensued and the Hawks' tied it up late to send it into OT. After 5 minutes and no winner, the teams went to a shootout and the Bruins got the extra point. The following night the Bruins welcomed in their rival the Habs. The teams met in Boston for the 1st time since last season's epic Game 6 Bruins win in the playoffs. Let's just say the Bruins played a flawless game and won 6-1 in front of a jubilant sellout crowd! Yelle and Sturm had multiple goal games and Manny Fernandez outplayed the shaky Price. The Bruins played another Original 6 team in the Rangers at MSG yesterday. It did not end well though. In a battle of the top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference, the Bruins played better and got 2nd period goals from Chara and Wideman to stake Thomas to a 2 nil lead heading into the 3rd. But the Bruins continue to let teams make comebacks, this time the Rangers scored with 6 to play and then pulled their goalie in the final minute and scored the tying goal. The Bruins lost in the shootout. A heartbreaking ending hurt, but the team took 5 of 6 points this week and are clicking on all cylinders as they sit in 1st place.

The Celtics are also in first place. The team is in the midst of 8 games in 12 days! It all ended yesterday. But first, last Sunday the Celts crushed the Pistons in Detroit and then the next day the team came back from a large deficit at home to beat Toronto 84-77. Pierce was hot down the stretch. The big one of the week was a rematch of last year's opening round playoff series vs. the Hawks. The Hawks came in undefeated through 6 games, while the green had one loss! The Celts blew a big lead late in a really spirited game! The Hawks hit a 3 pointer with a few seconds left to take a 102-101 lead. But Pierce hit a jumper as time expired and the green won 103-102!
The team had little time to celebrate as Denver and newly acquired Billups arrived in Boston soon thereafter. The Celts started off right, gaining a comfy 8-0 lead. But the Nuggets came back and played well. An 84-84 tie game with a 4 minutes to go actually turned into a 94-85 Nuggets win! The Celts cooled off while Denver did the opposite. Once again though, no time to dwell. The Celts flew to Milwaukee to take on the Bucs. The game went into OT but the scoring of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were too much. The Celtics won 102-97 to end a prosperous week. The team is in first place with games vs. New York and Detroit to come, at home this week. Standings:

Finally, your Boston College Eagles won at #19 Florida State. Montel Harris had another 100 yard game as the Eagles have 2 games left. Simple scenario; win both games and go to the ACC Championship. Standings:
