4 BOSTON SPORTS STORIES FOR NOVEMBER

Things are great right now, professional sports speaking. Why? Check out this week's sports blog. Here's 4 great true stories that will make any fan of New England sports fanatic smile!
  1. New England Patriots- The team entered their 11th game at 6-4, same as there opponent in Miami! The Dolphins smashed the Pats earlier in the year so a win to even the season series was yearned for. The good guys win, they keep their playoff hopes alive. They lose, and well they are done. So clearly this game was huge. The week was full of a newly confident Dolphins team that trash talked all week, especially the motor mouth in Joey Porter. But it was the Patriots that did their talking on the warm field in Miami. The Pats played a poor first half as the team had 2 turnovers that handed Miami 14 points and also a bunch of penalties. But even so, Matt Cassell and the offense controlled the game and put up huge numbers. After the teams went back and forth, a Moss TD grab late in the half gave the Pats a 17-14 game. The second half Miami came out and scored quick to take a 21-17 lead. But that is when the offense furthered their 1st half offensive domination. Cassell continually found Welker, Gafney, Faulk and Moss as the team simply bashed and shredded the Miami defense reminiscent of last season, when the Pats outscored Miami 77-35. The game was very physical from the get-go, culminating into a Light/Crowder fight late in the game. The two teams battled and Pennington and his crew stayed with the good guys until the Pats looked good with a 31-21 lead. But the opponent stormed back and made it 31-28 with 13+ minutes to go. But Cassell hit Moss for his 3rd TD and the Pats never looked back en route to a 48-28 win. The numbers were staggering(Moss 8 for 125/Welker 8 for 120/Gaffney 5 for 88/Faulk 100+all purpose yards) and the Pats totaled 500+ yards for the 1st time in team history! Cassell threw for over 400 yards twice in a row, also a record. Cassell's success is good for him as he will cash in after the year in free agency, but also good for the Pats, who overcame the wildcat this time and set themselves up for a shot at the playoffs. The Pats host the Steelers next week. It is huge as the 7-4 Pats can tie and get the tiebreaker over the 8-3 Steelers with a win! Go Pats!
  2. The Celtics continue to dominate! The team went 4-0 this week, beating the Knicks by 9 points, the Pistons by 18 points, the T-Wolves by 17 points and the Raptors by 15 points! Not only are they winning, they are dominating with the all 5 starters and the bench. Everyone is playing, and the defense is holding opponents down as the green score at will! The team is 13-2 and look for their 13th win vs. the Warriors this week before the weekend.
  3. The Bruins are not your best kept secret anymore! The team did not lose this week! They are 14-3 and lead the Conference in points. They score early and often and have the best goalie in the league right now in Tim Thomas! Looking back, the team won all 4 games this week. They knocked off the Leafs in Toronto, scored 7 goals to knock off Miller and the Sabres, dominated the Panthers 4-2 and then beat their arch rival in the Habs 3-2. The team is getting production from all 4 lines and the 6 defensemen. Savard, Kessel, Krecji and Lucic stood out the most this week, but each and every player is on target. Of all 4 wins, the win last night in Montreal on Patrick Roy Night stood out the most for obvious reasons. While Lucic was the target for severely beating up Komaserik last time in the Bruins 6-1 thrashing in Boston, he avoided the crowd and opponents and scored once again. The Habs tied it up late but the Bruins prevailed in the shootout. It was the 1st win in Montreal since late 2006, not including the playoff win last season. So things are great with the Bruins and it's good to see my diehard passion getting rewarded. The team plays in Buffalo, then hosts the Isles and Wings in Boston. Thomas' #'s(9-2/9.44 save%/1.80 GAA) and Savvy's #'s(8 goals/19 assissts/13+/-) are awe inspirational! Go Bruins!
  4. Okay, time for some NCAA talk. The 8-3 Boston College Eagles were a bit disappointed after losing to UNC and Clemson, but bounced back to beat Notre Dame, FSU and now Wake Forest. After an injury to Crane, the team used a smoldering defense and some key plays from young back-up QB Davis to win late 24-21. The huge road win sets up a scenario; beat Maryland next week at The Heights and they win the ACC Atlantic Division crown. They won the crown last year but eventually lost to VA Tech in the ACC Championship. This time, beat the Terps and move on to the big game, likely vs. GA Tech. Win that and BCS bid, seemingly the Orange Bowl. So 2 wins from a huge game. Go Eagles!
