ON TO THE PLAYOFFS

It's always a special blog when a team from New England makes the post season. So it comes as no surprise I'm very stoked that the 2008 Boston Red Sox have officially clinched one of eight playoff spots. The team will head to La-La- land starting Wednesday for a 5 game series vs. the Angels. Let's see how the final week of the regular season concluded.
The team entered the week chasing Tampa for the division. They needed just one victory to clinch the wildcard spot. They did, but the Indians did arrive in Boston and won the opener 4-3. The next 3 games were all won by Boston, even though very little was at stake. It was a close series but the good guys won it despite resting many of the starters. All that was left was a final 3-game series with the pinstripes. In the opener, the Sox used their backup players and got crushed by the NYY starters playing for pride. The following day the game got rained out. As this goes to print, the two teams are battling heavy rain as they attempt to play a doubleheader.
(The Yanks took the opener but the good guys won the 2nd game in extras).
As for the Pats, they continue to lick their wounds from last weekend. The team lost for the 1st time since 2006. They are getting healthy and are heading to the left coast for a game vs. the 49ers next weekend.
Please read my playoff preview tomorrow. There are more games tomorrow for some, as not all the playoff spots are set. Great finishes!
