Well, good week for our Red Sox. The team headed to Yankee Stadium for the final time and won 2 of 3. In the opener, the team rocked Pettitte and did enough to win with ease 7-3. The next night the Sox bashed the pinstripes again 11-3 behind a grand slam for Pedroia. The lost lost a heartbreaker in the finale 3-2. Lester was amazing but the bullpen blew a late 2-0 lead and lost 3-2. It was arguably the toughest loss of the season, a game they simply gave away.
But the team headed home with a 6-3 trip, certainly a proud achievement.
The White Sox came into Fenway and the Sox took 2 of 3. They won 8-0 behind an 8 inning 2 hitter from Dice-K. Then they won 8-2 the next night behind Bowden's debut and Pedroia's bat.
For the 2nd straight game, Pedroia went 4 for 4 and reached base 9 times. He leads the league in most offensive categories, including hits and multiple hit games. But the Sox lost the finale 4-2.
All in all a great week that could have been better. The team is 5 games back of Tampa though as they continue to win each and every game. They went 5-1 and the Sox went 4-2. But the Red Sox have the wildcard lead by 3 games over the Twins. The team faces a reeling Oriole club and then the lowly Rangers this week. Beckett, Lowell and Drew should return mid week. Newly acquired Kotsay has played great thus far.
Meanwhile, the Pats open the regular season Sunday vs. KC. So this blog will get bigger and better as we go forward. And congrats to the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Portland Sea Dogs as they both made the post season in their respective leagues. Imagine how bright the future of the Red Sox organization will continue to be!
