2008 NFL PREDICTIONS

Well, it's that time. Time to see if the nickname I received years back is warranted. Like any type of prediction, many factors will be in play. Surrounding sports/athletics, injuries are always a key and vital factor. It can change the paths for many teams, whether good or bad. You'll get your surprises too. Last season, the Browns, Bucs and Giants shocked the world. Teams such as the Saints, Broncos and Eagles never met nor exceeded expectations.

In the AFC, it's an easier go. Teams such as the Patriots, Colts, Jags, Steelers and Chargers are sure-bets to do well and make the post season. But the NFC is a crapshoot for the most part. I don't like to put exact wins and losses down but I will. Strength of schedule is a key marker and can help a poor team get a couple extra wins and vice-versa. So take it for what it's worth.

AFC EAST
  1. PATRIOTS 13-3
  2. JETS 9-7
  3. BUFFALO 8-8
  4. DOLPHINS 4-12

The Patriots are loaded and will look to go undefeated within the division and that looks likely. The Jets are improved but many question remain, including a lack of a running game. Buffalo is also improved but in a competitive conference. Miami appears better but will have to rely on an improved defense and solid running game to win a bit more than last season.

AFC NORTH

  1. STEELERS 12-4
  2. BROWNS 10-6
  3. BENGALS 8-8
  4. RAVENS 4-12

The Steelers have all the tools to make a run. They do everything fairly well. The Browns can't overtake them though and 9 or 10 wins are plausible. The Bengals are okay and lack defense as usual. The Ravens are rebuilding and won't win too often.

AFC SOUTH

  1. COLTS 12-4
  2. JAGS 11-5
  3. TITANS 9-7
  4. TEXANS 7-9

The poor Texans. They are a good team in a great division. The Colts are as always a solid team. The Jags are too and have the running game to stay in it and push the Colts. The Titans are a solid team that is very physical. Most think the Titans will struggle, but with a like-able RB combo and the addition of Crumpler, Young should carry his club to a .500 record or better.

AFC WEST

  1. CHARGERS 12-5
  2. BRONCOS 8-8
  3. RAIDERS 6-10
  4. CHIEFS 4-12

The bolts will cruise in this division. They are primed for another run. The Broncos are not a .500 team but may win 8 thanks in part to the lack of success within the division. The Raiders are young but winning 6-8 games would not shock me. They are a team to watch, Seriously. The Chiefs have Larry Johnson and..................well, that's it. Very poor club.

NFC EAST

  1. COWBOYS 11-5
  2. EAGLES 11-5
  3. GIANTS 9-7
  4. REDSKINS 6-10

The Cowboys are still stacked. The Eagles are improved and should win 10 games. The Giants will take a step back but 8 or 9 wins and being competitive will be as far as they go. The Skins' are in a very solid division and have the weakest QB in it. They'd be a .500 team in another division. Look for a great 2 or even 3 team race for the crown.

NFC NORTH

  1. PACKERS 9-7
  2. VIKINGS 9-7
  3. LIONS 7-9
  4. BEARS 5-11

The Packers and Vikings should both be competitive and win 10 games. I like both teams but neither has a sure proven QB. Solid defenses though. The Lions again have offense but .500 is there ceiling. The Bears lack a great deal, especially on offense. Orten was the right pick though.

NFC SOUTH

  1. BUCCANEERS 9-7
  2. SAINTS 9-7
  3. PANTHERS 8-8
  4. FALCONS 5-11

This is the toughest division to foresee. The Bucs get the edge over the Saints because of their superior defense. The Saints should win 10 games but they probably just won't. The Panthers are respectable, thus the .500 record. The Falcons will have some bumps but Ryan is good.

NFC WEST

  1. SEATTLE 10-6
  2. ARIZONA 8-8
  3. ST. LOUIS 7-9
  4. SAN FRANCISCO 6-10

I know the least about this division. From afar, the Rams can score with anybody. But every year they disappoint. The 49ers have some young talent but who's the QB and leader? Arizona has a slew of young talent but is Warner the answer? Seattle has the least questions but they need a true back. 11 wins in this division for the Seahawks is not out of the question!
