The Red Sox stink right now. Not much more to say. It's been a horrendous month of July.
After getting swept in LA, the team headed to Seattle. The Red Sox won all 3 games! Jon Lester pitched a gem in the opener, same for Dice-K in the 2nd game and then the club won a grueling 12 inning affair to win the series. With some positive action, the team headed home to take on the Yanks. The Red Sox came into the series with the best home record in the majors. The Yanks stole the last games in NY a few weeks back so payback was certainly in order.
Unfortunately, Chamberlain outdueled Beckett 1-0 in the opener. The good vibe was gone.
In the 2nd game, the Sox had a nice 2-0 early lead but somehow ended up getting crushed. The Sox showed some pride in the finale as Lester and the Sox offense went on to a blowout on national television. The season series is now 6-6 between the two.
So an okay week. Not great though. The Yanks are now in the division race while Toronto is just about as well. The Sox have a 3-game set vs. LAA and then the same vs. Oakland. The Sox should win 4. They need some wins vs. LAA, as the Angels have crushed the Sox thus far and the aforementioned sweep last week. Payback. Then they should crush the slumping A's club.
As we sit, the Rays are 1 game up on the Sox and 3 on the Yanks.
