THE LOW POINT

This is not a happy blog this week. Tough results in all aspects here in The Hub, athletically speaking. The Bruins lost the decisive Game 7 in Montreal. Now is not the time to dissect the loss, which bounced the Bruins from the playoffs and their matchup against the Penguins. I will look back on the loss and the season when the time is right. Despite the loss, it was a great series and season for so many reasons. Look out for a potent blog about this soon.
The Celtics are not invincible. They entered the week up 1-0 on the Hawks after bashing them 104-81. Then, a few nights later in Boston, the green rocked them again 96-77. Things seemed well and a sweep was in order. But for whatever reason, the Celtics fell 102-93 in Atlanta for Game 3. Shocking yes, but Atlanta had to win one game. The Celtics should win the next 2 games rather easily. For now though, it's still a series.
The Red Sox are not invincible either after a week that can be described as awful, disgraceful, despicable, shameful, horrific and embarrassing. But we are all used to this pathetic performance once a year. The team comes in and can't hit and just stink. We all remembered getting swept in Toronto, Kansas City and Seattle. Well, the team is in a clear slump. After playing well in a 4 game set vs. Texas, the team welcomed LA in town. The team won game 1 but that was when things turned for the worse. They blew leads and shockingly lost the next 2 games at home vs. LA. No excuses, despite a serious injury bug and flu bug that hit the team all week. With the 2 games hopefully in the past, the team really dived. They headed to Tampa to play the lowly Rays, a team that still stinks in all aspects. They blew the first game in 11 innings but looked like the club extinguished the 3 game losing streak the night after. But the team blew another late lead and lost 2-1. The team had one chance to save face but the horrific week ended with a 2 hit loss. Absolute disgrace. But as said, the Sox are known for having the occasional horrendous week and losing streak to lesser opponents and still ended up with a ring. Let's hope that's the case this time around. They better wake up soon.
On to good news. BC QB Matt Ryan was #3 pick in this weekend' NFL Draft. The Pats stacked themselves again by going basically all defense, specifically linebacker and cornerbacks. Jerod Mayo was their top pick at #10. Lastly, congrats to the Providence Bruins for bashing the heck out of Manchester in the 1st round of the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs. They are in the 2nd round and already lead Portland 1-0. Future Bruins goalie Rask is playing dominate/shut down goaltending. Meanwhile, the Bruins assigned 2 members of their 2008 playoff squad, Sobotka and Nokelianen, to join the Baby B's in their quest for the Cup!
