Same goes for the BC hockey team. They won 2 big games and are headed to the Frozen Four!
The Celtics continue to simply dominate on most nights. After losing in a heart breaker at NO to bring a long road trip to a close, the team welcomed the 76ers in and bashed them until they came back from double digits in the 4th to shock the green. The team quickly bounced back and beat arguably the 2 best teams in the league. The beat the Suns and then the Hornets by 20 points each and in the process became only the 2nd team in the NBA to defeat every NBA team.
They also beat the Bulls a few minutes ago 88-62. The team is 58-15, far and away the best team in the game.
The Red Sox opened up there season in Japan versus the Athletics. They then went to LA for 3 exhibition games and then once again open the season in Oakland later this week.
Okay, it's time for my favorite part of this weekly sports blog; the black and gold. The team went winless last week to put themselves in a rather difficult spot. Then news broke two of the team's most productive players, Savard and Kobasew, joined the likes of Bergeron and Alberts on the injured list. Savard missed all 4 games this week and Kobasew is out 8 weeks.
Nevertheless, the team had arguably their best week of the long season. And they needed it with teams chasing them for a spot in the playoffs. The team began the week in a hostile environment in Toronto. The Leafs were just 4 points behind the Bruins and a home and home series ahead.
Thomas outdueled Toskala en route to a 6-2 victory and then again 4-2 in Boston. Toronto was eliminated and the Bruins presumably found their scoring touch behind Savard's young replacement David Krejci. The team then welcomed Ottawa into town for a Saturday matinee and won 4-0 behind Tim Thomas. It was a chippy game with many penalties but the win was vital for the black and gold. The team quickly regrouped and headed to Buffalo. The Sabres entered the game with hopes of catching the Bruins. A Bruins win would knock them out for good. At the end of regulation, Miller and Auld allowed only 1 goal each. But the Sabres got the extra point in OT. Though the Bruins would have liked to get 2 points, getting 1 was key. Just look at the standings to see why. The Bruins have 3 games left so check back next week to find out if the solid play of late from the black and gold continues. Go Bruins!
