WE'RE TURNING INTO A SPORTS BLOG

Seems like there is very little time for me to blog. I get about 20 minutes a week. Though in the near future I hope to incorporate more culture, music and politics, once again I'm limited to the Boston sports scene once again. So let's get her done.
This is going to be a brief one. I was at the Celtics game Sunday and the Bruins on Tuesday, as discussed in blogs earlier this week. As for the other games.............................................................
The Bruins had another difficult week. Inconsistent play all-around continues to hamper the black and gold as they hold on tightly for the 8th and final playoff seed. After losing their 4th straight game at home, they came back the following night to pick up a huge victory in Pittsburgh. Then they traveled to Toronto for a Thomas/Toskala duel. The Bruins played a fantastic opening period, a poor second period and a lukewarm final frame.
They led 1-0 on an early goal from Murray then a 2-1 lead from a goal from the much improved Wideman. But the combination of a bullshit on-the-road roughing call and a delay of game on a Chara clearing with 5 minutes remaining gave the Leafs a 5-on-3- they scored twice. If not for a late Chara goal, the loss would have been one of the worst of the year no doubt. But the Bruins fell in overtime to end a rather poor week. They got 3 of a possible 6 points. Good, but not good enough to make the playoffs. Here are the standings one through 15. Top 8 make the playoffs!

Meanwhile, the Celtics ended the first half on a strong note. They won a ll 3 games with wins over the Spurs, Pacers and Knicks. They have 3 All-Stars this weekend in New Orleans and have had the best record in the NBA since day one. They are 41-9 and are 14-0 versus the mighty Western Conference! Every team in the East is at least 10 games behind the Celtics save for the Pistons. Here are the 4 best team in the NBA thus far.
Boston 41-9
Detroit 39-13
New Orleans 36-15
Phoenix 37-16

Lastly, the Celtics expect KG to return to the floor starting Tuesday when the club heads out West for 5 straight games!
