NO WAY!

If you've followed this blog, I have two things to say. First, thanks. Second, this will be the second soul searching blog you'll have read. Last year, in late January, the Colts shocked the Patriots in the final minute to move on to the Super Bowl and a weak Bears club. The moments following the loss were described as arguably the worst feeling of my life. It ranks up there with the Sox losing game 7 in New York in 2003. And now a third catastrophic moment has occurred.
The NY Giants scored with 35 seconds remaining to shock the world 17-14.
Yeah that's right. The 18-0 Pats had a 7-3 lead for most of the game and led 14-10 with under three minutes to go. But the Giants found a way to win. In a last chance drive, the game was just about over on a few occasions. But in the end, the football gods chose the Giants and propelled them to the win.
Obviously I'm in shock. I'm severely wounded. Yes. The 2007 Patriots are still the greatest team ever, Super Bowl win or not. The numbers speak for themselves. All the records have been shattered. But in the end, anything can happen on any given day in sports. One bad game can happen. And thus it did. But it won't end the dynasty. 4 of 7 Super Bowls stand out. And the team will compete for more over the next few years. They draft 7th overall in the impending draft. In any case, check back next week when I've had an opportunity to clear my head.
Meanwhile, the Celtics may give us that feeling we almost had. They continue to dominate the NBA. They beat the Heat by 30 points 117-87 and then the Mavericks 96-90 on a national stage.
Both wins were without Garnett, arguably the odds on favorite to win the MVP. The team was actually without Ray Allen vs. the Heat but it mattered little. The 2007-08 Celtics are too good for most of the league. With the All-Star game in the near future, the team sits at 36-8. They have 6 games left before the reprieve and then head out West for 5 games. But for now, they'll concentrate on the next opponent; Cleveland on the 6th.
The Bruins are in the playoff mix too. After Chara, Savard and Thomas all played well at the All-Star game(Chara-hardest shot/Savard-GW goal/Thomas-winning goaltender), the team welcomed Nashville in to town. Tim Thomas played masterful and the team won 3-1. The next game was at first-place Ottawa and Thomas stole the show again. The team scored 3 in the first and won 4-1. Only the 39-10 Red Wings stood in the way of a perfect week. The dominating Red Wings are far and away the best team in the NHL. And the Bruins nursed a 1-0 lead for roughly 35 minutes before the Wings tied it. With the score 1-1 in the third, the Wings stepped up their game and scored 2 goals en route to a 3-1 win. The Bruins have a home-in-home with Buffalo this week and then a tilt with the lowly Panthers. We wish them the best this week.
Next week will be an important blog. I will do some Bruins and Celtics. But it will be a look back at the greatest team ever(in my opinion) in the NFL.
