BRUINS TURN

48 hours after taking in a Celtics game at TD Banknorth Garden, I returned to North Station to cheer of my Bruins along with an estimated 16,000. Though it was a far cry from the sell-out days earlier for the Celts, the die-hard fans braved a winter wonderland to watch the Bruins bang out the Hurricanes.
Unlike the Celtics, you never really know which Bruins team will show up. Well, 5 minutes in, the black and gold were down 2-0. To make a long story short, the Bruins lacked composure, intensity, physicality, urgency and passion. The Hurricanes dominated the Bruins and a plethora's of boos rained down from the venue as the good guys were down 3-0 with 5 minutes remaining in the game.
I looked around from my incredible rink-side seats and watched as folks booed as they exited The Garden. I shook my head throughout the game and was clearly pissed off. As I talked with my bro', we couldn't figure out why we got dominated. Then the black and gold awoke and played phenomenal as they scored 2 goals in under a minute.
The Bruins played some spirited hockey until the final buzzer went off but fell 3-2. Very few hits occurred and not a single fight. It's amazing to see what has happened to our game. The livelihood of the sport is gone- the fighting. And that's a shame.
There was some differences between watching the Celts and Bruins. First, the seats are way worse at the Bruins. The padded seats are switched for a way more uncomfortable option. The temperature is obviously a great deal colder for the Bruins. The girls, well, more diverse crowd at the Celtics as one would expect. Their tended to be more females, especially of the younger variety, at the Celtics game. The beautiful Celtics dancers looked a great deal hotter than the Bruins ice girls. Surprisingly, both groups wore very little. Even with the cool temperature at the Bruins game, the ice girls wore tight black shorts and Bruins sports bras. Very hot, but the girls were few and far between. I only saw a couple girls scattered in the loge, both times accompanied by the Bruins mascot, Blades.
While a few lucky fans got to go on the parquet court for the green machine, the only fans to do so at the Bruins was the fans accompanying the driver's of the 2 Zamboni's during each intermission. I was shocked at how excited the Bruins fans got when the ice girls tossed t-shirts into the crowd once or twice. But I guess a game with very little excitement can do that to a person.
There were a few laughs though. Fans yearning for a shot at quick fame danced like fools for the Jumbotron. Very funny though. But the best part was the Valentine's Day theme. On and off the kissing cam locked on to couples and the 2 had to kiss each other for everyone seated at the event. Everyone seemed to watching if the 2 fans would kiss. Most did, but some couples were either friends or first date strangers. A few stuck-up late to middle aged woman turned down their counterpart for a plethora of boos from all who were in attendance. Only one male fan backed off from a kiss, presumably because his girlfriend was at home watching or on her way back from a restroom or drink run! The biggest cheer of the night? Well, that was a tie between Bruins rookie Milan Lucic's best fights of the year, which were posted on the Jumbotron, and when the Habs officially lost to the Lightning 3-2!
