As another week passed by here in the Hub of sports (Boston) things continue to stay great. I would love to sit here and write about culture, history, science, health, music and politics, this blog is currently surviving on sports. And why not?
The Pats are a few hours away from taking on the Eagles at the razor. The team sits at 10-0 and has already clinched the AFC East after the Bills took one on the chin at Jacksonville. Can you believe that? The team has 8 games to go, it's still November and the division's all wrapped up!
Check back tomorrow to find out how exactly they celebrated. The spread is 24 points, unheard of in this age!
The B.C. Eagles defeated Miami yesterday on Senior Day. It's the first win vs. Miami since the Flutie Bowl in 1984. It also marks the first 10 win season since 1940! The Hurricanes fought back to tie the game 14-14 in the final session but the Eagles scored 14 straight points en route to a 28-14 victory.
The Eagles won the regular season ACC crown. They won the ACC Atlantic title and play the ACC Coastal champ VA Tech on Saturday in Jacksonville. The winner goes to the Orange Bowl!
B.C. defeated the Hokies a few weeks back 14-10 in late fashion. This rematch will be arguably be one of the biggest games ever for both programs. Going to the Orange Bowl means your a top 8 team and possibly the best that year. 150 or so teams can't say that. Good luck to the Eagles of Boston College. Currently, they sit at 10-2 and are ranked #11 in the BCS and #12 in all other polls. The Hokies are #6 in all polls. Go B.C. Eagles.
Speaking of late game heroics, the Celtics beat the Bobcats 96-95 on a last second buzzer beater. They trailed by 2 points and only 4 seconds remained- Charlotte had the ball. Unfortunately for them, the Celtics stole the inbound pass- and instead of a quick foul in hopes they miss free throw- Allen hit a 3 pointer and the Celtics won in stunning fashion.
Earlier in the week, the team beat the Warriors by 23 and then the Lakers by 13, both games at home. So if your counting at home, the Celtics are 11-1;the best record in the NBA. They have a 5 game lead in their division already!
The Bruins continued to play well but can't go on a long winning streak, which could find the front page next to the Sox, Pats, Celts and Eagles. The team went to Toronto and scored 4 straight goals in Rask's debut to win 4-2. They then beat the Islanders 2-1 during a post-Thanksgiving matinee at the Garden. The teams rematched the following night and the Bruins blew a 1-0 lead and fell 2-1. They sit at 11-8 on the year and are in 3rd place in the division.
All we know is this: they have a good system under Julien, Tim Thomas is playing incredible and the team lacks an offensive attack. We'll know a lot more in the coming weeks as the team plays 9 of 10 on the road.
Lat but not least, how can one have a Thanksgiving blog without mentioning Massachusetts high school football. My Billerica Indians lost to Chelmsford 28-20 and the solid season ends at 8-3.
We'll briefly discuss all the post season matchups next weekend.
