2007 MR. OLYMPIA PREVIEW

The 2007 Mr. Olympia in the Sin City takes place this upcoming weekend. And if history repeats itself, expect a win by last year's winner of the Sandow, Jay Cutler. A trend started in 1984 when Lee Haney won the Olympia in 1984 and went on to win the next 7 Mr. Olympia's. His reign ended in Finland, the last time this contest was outside U.S. soil, when Dorian Yates won his first of 6 consecutive titles.
Ronnie Coleman overtook Yates in 1998 and went on to win the next 7 that followed before Cutler stopped him last year. So it would seem evident that Cutler, in his prime, will take the next 6 or 7 contests. But with some young talent and a hungry and vengeance seeking Ronnie Coleman on his heels, Cutler will face some stiff competition. Here is my top 5. I hope these predictions are dead on, but bodybuilding is difficult to analyze and forecast. Some contestants come to Olympia weekend, and even the day of the show, with too much water. They look bloated or put on the wrong amount of oil, so you never know. Here goes:
  1. Jay Cutler
  2. Victor Martinez
  3. Ronnie Coleman
  4. Dexter Jackson
  5. Markus Ruhl
