WHAT NEXT?

Now that the NHL playoffs have begun, the Bruins can watch from afar and wonder what exactly happened late in the season. They lost a great opportunity to seize a moment in the playoffs, an exciting adventure for all who watch. Nothing beats the NHL post season.
GM Chiarelli and his coach Lewis will get another shot at improving, but what about the players?
Chara, Savard, Bergeron, Murray and Sturm make up roughly half of the payroll. If one was to go it would be Murray no doubt. The Bruins made terrible moves and trades during the year, especially trading away Jurcina for nothing. Stuart and Mara were dealt, that was smart as a whole. Ward, Ference, Stuart and Lashoff are all under contract for next year as the defense crew and all will likely be back. Of the 4 free agents, only Alberts is a sure bet to return. I'd sign him long term.
Tim Thomas is under contract and expect him to back up Toivonen next year, unless a trade exists. The high priced forwards were mentioned above, but also under contract are guys like Axelsson, Kobasew, Donovan, Kessel, Chistov, Kalus, Krejci, Walter and Mowers. Expect most to come back, especially Donovan, Kalus and Kessel. I really like Donovan and it's too bad they traded Primeau way; he was a keeper in my view. Bochenski and Reich are almost certain to return, but Hoggan and Tenkrat are unlikely. To be frank, the club scored few goals and were shut down on most nights. The club made poor trades all year and the signings of a few guys look iffy thus far. Brad Boyes and Paul Mara failed miserably. Nick Boynton was missed.
Bergeron needs to score more, Chara had to be a real captain, an enforcer opponents fear. Murray and Axelsson have to stay healthy, especially the latter. He looks more and more like Samsonov. Luckily, there's almost nowhere to go but up from here. Changes will be made. The team has to sure up all the weaknesses. We all hoe they will. The team is young and the P-Bruins had a great season. The team picks 8th in this year's draft.
