THE PICKS NL EAST

MLB 2007
NL East
  1. Mets 91
  2. Phillies 86
  3. Braves 84
  4. Marlins 81
  5. Nationals 63

Besides the Nationals, the division will be competitive and the outcome may be decided on the final day. The Mets are stacked offensively, arguably the best in the NL. Outside of Glavine, the staff is weak. Hernandez and Maine are basically 4th starters forced into a higher spot. Pedro will miss a chunk of the season and will be sorely missed. The bullpen looks solid. The Phillies always seem good on paper, but by season's end disappoint. Expect them to win between 84-88 games, finishing a few games behind the Mets. The staff is good but certainly overrated. They lack any greatness in the rotation, all five starters are mediocre. Only half of the lineup is solid. The Braves have a similar lineup as the Phillies. They have only two reliable starters thus far. The Marlins are young but clearly talented. The club could struggle and win around 75 games or could come along well and win 90. Time will tell. The Nationals are young but will almost certainly struggle to not lose 100 games.
